"demons of sanity." I know them well. In New England, where I grew up, we don't celebrate Carnival. The Puritans would never forgive us.

Mud is a great equalizer and release.

We don't have that much fun here, will have to try it, my boys will for sure!

Happy Carnival! Feliz!

Rose Monday is a big here in Westphalia and an extra-very-special-one in the Rheinland. Though I am not part of this millions-moving scene I like the idea to start the lenten season with being crazy and loud. BTW: very impressive carnival is practiced in south of Germany - the schwäbisch-alemannischer Fastnacht (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schw%C3%A4bisch-alemannische_Fastnacht).

Thanks for this fine haiga, Gillena.

Best wishes
